Teens aging out of foster care face some of the steepest odds. Built on 20 years of advocacy, Fostering Futures pairs youth 13 and older with mentors and the support they need to step into adulthood — ready.
Across the country, almost 20,000 young people leave foster care each year and are expected to make it on their own. In the Eastern Panhandle, we make sure they don’t go it alone.
Any youth 13+ who has experienced abuse or neglect can join — in foster care, kinship care, a group home, or on the edge of homelessness.
We pair each youth with a mentor and connect them to services, career programs, and monthly skill-building.
Youth build peer relationships and join the Youth Leadership Summit each summer at Shepherd University.
