A CASA volunteer with a child
Who we are

Hope needs a helping hand.

CASA of the Eastern Panhandle champions the best interests of children who have experienced abuse or neglect in Berkeley, Jefferson, and Morgan counties — ordinary people doing something extraordinary.

Our impact

The need is real — and so is the difference.

Children with a CASA spend less time in foster care, do better in school, and are half as likely to re-enter the system.

Served

350+

children supported by a CASA volunteer across the Eastern Panhandle each year.

Waiting

400+

more children are still waiting for an advocate to stand up for them.

Saved

$1.6M

in foster-care costs saved each year through the work of our volunteers.

We stand with every child — whatever their age, for as long as it takes to reach a safe, permanent home.

CASA of the Eastern Panhandle
What drives us

Mission, vision, and values.

Mission

Champion every child

We advocate for children who have experienced abuse or neglect through trained volunteers and strong community partnerships.

Vision

Heard and healing

A community where every child is heard, supported, and given the chance to heal and thrive in a safe, permanent home.

Values

Everyone belongs

We are committed to inclusion across heritage, culture, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, ability, and circumstance.

Non-discrimination statement

CASA of the Eastern Panhandle does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law in the provision of services, the selection and training of volunteers, or in employment. Every child, family, volunteer, and staff member is treated with dignity and respect.

The work

Sworn to a child’s best interests.

CASA volunteers are trained, supervised, and sworn in as officers of the court. They visit their child regularly and advocate across home, school, and the courtroom — staying until the case reaches a safe, permanent home.
