CASA of the Eastern Panhandle is proud to welcome Haleigh Wiley as our newest Case Coordinator, bringing with her not only professional passion, but lived experience that deeply shapes her approach to advocacy.
Haleigh grew up in the foster care system, giving her a unique understanding of what many of the children CASA serves are experiencing.
“As a former foster kid, it gives me another insight into what these kids are going through,” Haleigh shares. “It’s very important to reassure them that their voice truly does matter because a lot of the time they feel like it does not.”
That perspective allows Haleigh to connect with youth in a way that is both authentic and impactful. She approaches each interaction with patience, empathy, and a commitment to ensuring children feel seen and heard.
A Passion for CASA’s Mission
Haleigh has been drawn to CASA’s work for years.
“I’ve been wanting to work with CASA since 2018,” she explains. “I am a strong supporter of the mission. I do think that every child should have that one person that they can talk to and feel safe around… someone who is really in their corner.”
Her journey reflects a deep belief in the importance of advocacy—not just as a role, but as a responsibility.
What It Means to Be a Voice
For Haleigh, being a voice for children goes beyond speaking on their behalf. It starts with listening.
“To me, being a voice for children who feel that they may not be heard or really seen in these cases is about listening deeply and intentionally,” she says. “Making sure they know their fears and concerns are being taken into consideration.”
That intentional approach helps build trust and provides children with something they may not always have: stability.
Creating Lasting Impact
Haleigh understands that CASA’s impact extends far beyond individual cases.
“Being a part of CASA—whether it’s supporting, being a volunteer, or a mentor—is making a lasting impact for these children,” she says. “You’re giving them a sense of stability and giving them hope.”
And that impact is felt on both sides.
“CASA truly changes lives, not just for the children, but for the volunteers as well.”
Looking Ahead
As she grows in her role, Haleigh brings a powerful combination of empathy, experience, and dedication to the CASA team.
Her story is a reminder of why CASA’s mission matters and how one person can make a lasting difference in the life of a child.
We are proud to have Haleigh as part of our team and look forward to the meaningful impact she will continue to make in the Eastern Panhandle.
