On September 27, 2013, a diverse group of more than 30 people assembled in Martinsburg for a summit to discuss the plight of homeless families and individuals, to examine gaps in services, and to discuss how to collectively address some of the unmet needs. The Faith Community Coalition for the Homeless was founded as a group of volunteer service providers, churches, and professionals who were deliberate in choosing our name. The words “Faith Community” demonstrate a perspective and voice outside the system while “Coalition” exemplifies common goals and a desire to work together to benefit our homeless neighbors.
