How Unity Strengthens Our Community’s Most Vulnerable Children

When a child enters the abuse and neglect court system, intervention is critical. But at CASA of the Eastern Panhandle, our work doesn’t stop at crisis response. We are committed to prevention, stability, and long-term success.

That is why the Unity Campaign powered by United Way of the Eastern Panhandle is so important. The campaign supports organizations working in the areas of Youth Opportunity, Healthy Community, and Community Resiliency — the very pillars that guide CASA’s mission.

Prevention-Focused Programs

Prevention begins with stability. CASA volunteers provide consistent advocacy for children navigating uncertainty, ensuring their needs are clearly communicated in court. Beyond the courtroom, we expand that impact through programs designed to reduce long-term adverse outcomes.

The Mentorship Pathway

Not every child needs court advocacy forever, but every child benefits from connection. Our Mentorship Pathway pairs youth with consistent, caring adults who show up regularly, build trust, and help them set and achieve goals. Mentorship strengthens confidence, promotes resilience, and helps youth envision futures beyond their current circumstances.

Education Advocacy

Educational stability is one of the strongest protective factors in a child’s life. CASA works directly with schools, teachers, and caregivers to ensure children receive appropriate academic support, access to services, and advocacy when barriers arise. By addressing educational challenges early, we help prevent long-term setbacks.

Reunification and Family Support

When safe and appropriate, family reunification remains the primary goal in abuse and neglect cases. CASA supports that process by helping identify service gaps, encouraging accountability, and ensuring children’s best interests remain central to decision-making. We also provide post-permanency support to help families remain stable long after a court case closes.

These programs are not isolated efforts. They are interconnected strategies designed to create safer homes, stronger youth, and more resilient communities.

When you give during the Unity Campaign, your impact extends further.
A portion of every dollar that is raised during the Unity Campaign is matched through an Incentive Match Fund, helping expand support for the children and families we serve.

Through March 15th, we invite you to stand united for prevention, stability, and stronger futures.

Checks must be made payable to United Way of the Eastern Panhandle and postmarked by March 15.

Together, we strengthen our community by strengthening its children.
