This spring, CASA of the Eastern Panhandle partnered with The Kable Team Realty for a Bike Drive that turned generosity into joy for dozens of children in our community. Thanks to the incredible support of local donors, 85 brand-new bikes were collected and delivered to children served by CASA-EP—children who might not otherwise have the opportunity to experience the freedom and confidence a bike can bring.
But beyond the numbers, it’s the individual moments that truly reflect the heart of this effort.
One of those moments happened on a young boy’s birthday. His grandmother, now his primary caregiver, wanted to make the day special but was working with limited resources. She picked up a small cup of ice cream at Dairy Queen and promised him a party that weekend—after her next paycheck.
When they returned home, a brand-new bike was sitting on the front porch.
“It made his birthday so special!”
It’s moments like these that remind us how a simple act of giving can have a profound and lasting impact.
These bikes aren’t just gifts. They represent normalcy, confidence, independence, and joy. For many children in foster or kinship care, these moments of celebration are rare—and your support helped make them happen.
