Val Smith was more than a board member—she was a passionate advocate, mentor, and driving force behind CASA-EP’s youth-serving programs. In her honor, the Val Smith Fostering Futures Fund was established to carry her legacy forward by empowering older children and teens who are preparing for adulthood—especially those aging out of the foster care system without permanent family support.

This fund directly supports our Fostering Futures initiative, which equips youth ages 10–21 with the tools, mentorship, and opportunities they need to thrive. From monthly leadership workshops and overnight camps to trauma-informed care and college prep, the Val Smith Fund ensures young people have the guidance and resources they need to step confidently into adulthood.
